Create a Pavement Prediction Group Example

This feature requires a Cartegraph OMS license.

You must have a Cartegraph OMS advanced feature extension to access this feature.

In this example, you want to create a prediction group for pavement assets with:

  • a Pavement classification of Asphalt
  • An Index of 100 at Year 0, an Index of 53 at Year 22, and an Index of 0 at Year 40.
  • The Condition Categories PCI and Ride.
  • You want this asset to only be included in this prediction group if it already belongs to the Asphalt prediction group. 
  1. Click Screen Shot 2018-04-12 at 3.27.44 PM.png>Asset Condition Manager.
  2. Click the Prediction Groups tab.
  3. From the Asset Type field, select Pavement.
  4. Click Create to create the Asphalt Prediction Group. 
  5. Click Filter to create a filter for assets with the Pavement classification of Asphalt.  
OPTIONAL: Select the Default Prediction Group  check box. If an asset does not fall into the filter of any prediction group, then the default prediction group is set as the assets prediction group.
  1. Enter Asphalt for this Prediction Group.
  2. Click Save.
  3. From the left-hand side, select PCI.
  4. Click Edit Points.
  5. Enter for the Year.
  6. Enter 100 for the Index.
  7. Click +.
This is the default point for the Asphalt Prediction Group. 
  1. Enter 22 for the Year.
  2. Enter 53 for the Index.
  3. Click +.
This takes the curve to an index of 53 at year 22.
  1. Enter 40 for the Year.
  2. Enter 0 for the Index.
  3. Click +.
This final point takes the curve to an index of 0 at year 40.
  1. Click Save.
  2. With the PCI condition still selected, click Edit Points.
  3. Click Copy Points.
  4. To close the edit dialog, select Cancel.
  5. From the left-hand side, select the Ride condition category.
  6. Click Edit Points.
  7. Click Paste Copied Points.
  8. Click Save.
The next time Estimated condition is calculated Asphalt Pavement segments have their prediction group set to Asphalt. The deterioration of the asset is predicted for each condition category using inspections, tasks, and the curve points we just added.
