Use any text editor to create a data source file (.txt), tab (.tab), or comma-separated (.csv) of data to import. The program that creates the data may have report or export tools that create a data source file of data.
NOTE: CSV files generated by an export that will be used for importing must use ANSI encoding.
Use spreadsheet programs, such as Excel, to create a .csv (comma separated values) file. If you use a spreadsheet to create the data file, make sure the columns are properly formatted—text data are formatted as text, date and time match the date format in the Cartegraph database.
Remove dollar symbols ($) from currency fields in the data file when importing into a number field in the Cartegraph database. Regular Excel files (.xls) can be saved in Excel as .csv files.
