Create Protocol and Trigger in Scenario Builder Example

You must have administrator rights to access this feature.

You must have a Cartegraph OMS advanced feature extension to access this feature.

In this example, a new protocol is created that encompasses all local roadways. The protocol recommends the following activities:

  • Activity of Overlay if the road's Estimated OCI falls between 21 and 45. Once performed, this activity should skip 2 years before being performed again.
  • Patch every 3 years.
  • Crack Seal for asphalt roads once for the Scenario.

These activity recommendations are defined as triggers under the local roadways protocol.

Create Protocol

  1. Click 2018-04-17_0919.png>Library Manager.
  2. Go to the Protocols Library.
  3. Click Create.
  4. Name protocol Local Roadways.
  5. Select Pavement from the Asset Type field.
  6. Click Filter.
  7. Select Functional Classification.
  8. Select Is as the operator.
  9. Select Local from the Functional Classification Type field.
  10. Click Apply.
  11. Click Finish.

Now it's time to add the Triggers.

Create Triggers

  1. In the Protocol List view, select Local Roadways and click View.
  2. In the Triggers section, click Add.
  3. Select Overlay from the Activity field.
  4. In the Cost field enter the dollar amount of (50000.00)
  5. Select Estimated OCI Range from the Trigger Type field.
  6. Enter Estimated OCI From with 21.
  7. Enter Estimated OCI Through with 45.
  8. Enter Plan Years to Skip Before Eligible Again with 2.
  9. Click Save.
  10. Select Patch from the Activity field.
  11. In the Cost field enter the calculation of ([Length.Amount] * 0.70).
  12. Select Time as the Trigger Type.
  13. Enter 3 in the Years field and click Save.
  14. Select Crack Seal from the Activity field.
  15. In the Cost field, enter the calculation ([Length.Amount] * 0.40).
  16. Select Filter from the Trigger Type field.
  17. Click Filter.
  18. Select Pavement Classification.
  19. Select Is as the operator.
  20. Select Asphalt from the Pavement Classification field.
  21. Click Apply.
  22. Click Finish.
  23. Select Apply Once and click Finish.
