Scenario Builder Views

You must have administrator rights to access this feature.

You must have a Cartegraph OMS advanced feature extension to access this feature.

Details of a Scenario can be seen by selecting View from the Scenarios list view of Scenario Builder in the Administration menu.

When viewing a specific Scenario, there are three tabs: Details, Results, and Map. If the Scenario has been run successfully and has a status of Completed, then the Results tab is selected on the initial display of the screen; otherwise, the Details tab is selected. The Details and Results tabs share the overview header. The overview header can be collapsed from view.

Details

The Details tab has four sections that describe the details of the current scenario.

  • Settings: The Settings section contains details of the scenario setup such as Scenario Name, Asset Type, and Scenario Type.
  • Budgets: The Budgets section displays a list of budgets applied to the scenario. The budgets applied are only used if the Scenario Type is set to Budget Limitation; otherwise, the budgets are ignored.
  • Plan Years: The Plan years section displays a list of the Plan Year setup for the scenario, such as the budget for each year if the scenario is a Budget Limitation Type or the Target OCI of each year if the scenario is OCI Target Type. The Plan Year list is on both the Results and Scenario Detail tabs, but it does not follow the same persistence. This allows you to customize the settings for each tab.
  • Protocols: The protocols section displays a grid of the protocols applied to the scenario.

Results

The Results tab has three sections: Overview, Plan Years, and Activities. This is available after a scenario runs and lists the results. Review the results to see if the details of the scenario are the right fit for your situation or if you need to make adjustments and run it again.

Overview

The Overview tab contains details of the scenario results such as start date, total cost, scenario, and network beginning and ending estimated OCIs. The Overview tab also contains charts to select to display different information about the scenario. This tab is disabled if a scenario has not been run. Charts display depending on chart options, whether the scenario has been run, and data availability. The charts are:

  • Activity Cost per Plan Year
  • Budget vs Cost per Plan Year
  • Budget vs Cost per Scenario
  • Cost for Impact per Scenario
  • Net OCI Gain per Scenario
  • Plan Years

Plan Years

  • The default sort is Plan Year.
  • Selected columns and sort order are persisted across sessions.
  • The Plan Year list is on both the Results and Details tabs but does not follow the same persistence. This allows you to customize the column settings for each tab.
  • List view values can be exported.
  • The bottom of the list displays record count totals.

Activities

  • This section shows a list of the individual activities recommended based on the scenario settings.
  • The default sort is Sequence Number.
  • Selected columns and sort order are persisted across sessions.
  • You can export list values.
  • The bottom of the list displays record count totals.

Map

This tab displays the assets by plan year and activity in the scenario on a map. The asset color corresponds to the activity planned for the asset for the selected plan year. You can see all assets even if they do not have a suggested activity; assets that do not have any activity applied for the selected plan year always display gray. The tab also contains a budget-limited chart detailing by plan year the overall cost for a particular activity. The chart is ordered by activity.

Requirements:

  • This tab is disabled if a scenario has not been run.
  • There is a 5,000-asset limit on the map.
  • A maximum of 10 plan years and 12 activities (plus no activity) can display on the map. A warning dialog box displays the first time you open a scenario with too much data to display. After you dismiss the dialog box, a warning icon displays on the screen for any scenario with too much data.

Mode: The Mode fields allows you to filter activities by Plan Year or by Activity.

  • Plan Year: Select a plan year to display. The map displays all assets, which are colored based on the activity being performed that year. The chart displays the activity cost per plan year. Chart colors match those in the map.
  • Activity:  Select an activity to display. The map displays all assets, which are colored based on the year the activity is scheduled to be performed. The chart displays plan year cost per activity.

Outline and Highlight: There are two options provided to help with asset visibility on the map: Outline and Highlight. Outline places a black border around the shape of the asset. Highlight darkens the map itself, but not the asset colors. The state of these toggles persists across sessions.

Map Type: The feature allows you to search and change the basemap type.

Tool Tip: Click an asset on the map to display a tool tip with more information about the activity or asset. The header displays the asset ID and asset type. Locked indicates whether that particular activity is locked for the scenario. The page list at the bottom allows you to page through multiple records if the point selected contained multiple assets and/or activities. The chart also has a tool tip that displays when you hover over a data item.

Budget Limit Chart: The chart displays the total cost for activity by plan year. Each plan year displays a maximum of eight activities per year with a maximum of five years being shown. A tool tip displays when you hover on an individual bar item, showing the total cost.

Map Persistence: The basemap selection, zoom, and pan location all persist across sessions. The persistence is not tied to a specific scenario.
