Create a Component From the Container Asset Examples
In this example, a new sign is installed on Bridge 509. In the system, Sign 198 is created and connected as a component to Bridge 509. The Sign's relationship as a component to Bridge was created in Structure Manager.
- Click the Assets tab.
- In the List view, select Bridge 509 and click View.
- Click the Components tab.
- In the Breadcrumb bar, click Create and select Sign.
When creating an asset from the Components tab, the Create menu only displays the assets with a relationship to the container asset.
- Select the sign's location on the bridge and click Next.
- Enter the sign details, enter 198 for the Sign ID, and click Finish & Save.
Sign 198 displays as a component of Bridge 509.
In this example, a storm culvert is installed as part of a bridge. Storm Culvert 199 is created and connected as a component to Bridge 509. Storm Culverts have two Bridge relationships established in Structure Manager. You need to choose which connection to set when creating the Storm Culvert asset.
- Click the Assets tab.
- In the List view, select Bridge 509, and click View.
- Click the Components tab.
- In the Breadcrumb bar, click Create and select Storm Culvert.
When creating an asset from the Components tab, the Create menu only displays the assets with a relationship to the container asset.
- Select which Bridge connection that should be used and click Save.
- Select the storm culvert's location and click Next.
- Enter the storm culvert details, enter 199 for the Culvert ID, and click Finish & Save.
Storm Culvert 199 displays as a component of Bridge 509.
