Create Layout to Display Grandchild Records in Cartegraph One

You must have administrator rights to access this feature.

This feature may not be available in every package. Not sure if you have this feature or you want to learn more about it? Send us a message at support@cartegraph.com.

When creating a layout, keep these things in mind:

  • New layouts only display in Cartegraph One after you sign out and back in.
  • All layouts are tied to a role. If a role is not tied to the view, that user does not see the changes.
  • You may not change the Cartegraph default view, but you may copy and edit that version as your own.

There are special restrictions for Cartegraph One. Space is limited on mobile devices so only the first eight fields of a child record display. Any fields after the first eight are ignored.

Create Layout

  1. Click iAdministration_sm.png>Layout Manager.
  2. Make the following selections:
  • Category>Asset
  • Type>click + for an asset to view its children, and select one of the children.
  • View Type>Detail View
  • View>*New
  1. Enter a name for the view and click Save.
  2. Drag one or more grids from the left panel to the parent section in the layout view.
  3. Click iColumnSelector_sm.png to add additional columns, and click x to close the column selector.
  4. Click and drag the column heads so that the eight most preferred titles occupy the first eight spaces.

In Cartegraph One, only the first eight heads will display.

  1. Click Save.
  2. Click the asset button with the name you assigned in step 3 and click *New.
  3. Enter a name for the grandchild asset and click Save.
  4. Drag one or more grids from the left panel to the child section in the layout view.
  5. Click iColumnSelector_sm.png to add additional columns, and click x to close the column selector.
  6. Click and drag the column heads so that the eight most preferred titles occupy the first eight spaces.

In Cartegraph One, only the first eight heads will display.

  1. Click Save.

After a user signs in to Cartegraph One, the new layout displays.

You can continue this pattern of editing Detail Views as many layers deep as you like.

  3. Click Save.
