Move Attachments from Cartegraph 8 (Navigator) to Cartegraph OMS or Cartegraph AMS

On Premise Customers

As part of your conversion, attachment files need to be moved into the appropriate folder in the new Cartegraph OMS/AMS Project Home directory. During your conversion the Cartegraph project team provides a spreadsheet called AttachmentLocation. This allows you to see where your current attachment files reside, where they will reside in Cartegraph OMS/AMS, as well as see if any cleanup should be performed in order to move your attachments into Cartegraph OMS/AMS.

It is the customer’s responsibility to move attachments into the Cartegraph OMS/AMS Project Home. If your attachments are not currently in your Navigator Project Home\Attachments directory those need to be cleaned up and consolidated into the Cartegraph OMS/AMS Project Home\Attachments directory. Each asset type (as well as Requests, Tasks, Work Orders, and each Resource) has its own attachments directory, and in Cartegraph OMS/AMS all attachments need to go into the root directory for that asset. For example, PH\Attachments\Signs. You can no longer save attachments into their own sub-directories as Cartegaraph OMS/AMS manages all the attachments and links for you. The most recent attachment in Cartegraph 8 (Navigator), or the current attachment, becomes the primary attachment in Cartegraph OMS/AMS.

Hosted Customers

As part of your Cartegraph OMS/AMS conversion, attachment files need to be moved into the appropriate folder in the new Cartegraph OMS/AMS Project Home directory. During your conversion the Cartegraph project team provides you with a spreadsheet called Attachment Location. This allows you to see where your current attachment files reside, where they will reside in Cartegraph OMS/AMS, as well as see if any cleanup is necessary in order to move your attachments into Cartegraph OMS/AMS.

It is the customer’s responsibility to consolidate attachments into one directory per app. For example, Requests, Tasks, Work Orders, each asset, and each Resource, if they are currently residing in multiple locations. In Cartegraph OMS/AMs each asset has its own attachments directory and all attachments need to go into the root directory. For example, PH\Attachments\Signs. Consolidating attachments also give you a chance to clean up attachment files. In Cartegraph OMS/AMS you are no longer able to save attachments into their own sub-directories as Cartegraph OMS/AMS manages all the attachments and links for you. The most recent attachment in Navigator (current attachment) becomes the primary attachment in Cartegraph OMS/AMS.

There is a Project Home size limitation for hosted environments of 50GB. This is typically more than enough space to host all of your attachments. If space becomes an issue there are a couple of options; drop some of your attachments from coming over or purchase additional space.

Duplicate Attachment Names

The Cartegraph Project Team notifies you if there are duplicate attachment names found in sub-directories for the same app. If you run into this situation in an on-premise environment send in your attachments so Cartegraph can use an internal tool to rename the duplicate attachment files properly. Once the duplicate names are resolved the attachments are sent back. For Hosted customers this process happens for you automatically as part of the conversion while Cartegraph loads your data to the hosted site.
