Below are the descriptions for the responsibilities and roles each Implementation team members. Once your role is defined, this is a good resource to understand your responsibilities throughout the project.
Roles may overlap and/or be combined based on the organization's internal organizational chart and workflow processes.
Project Sponsors
EXECUTIVE SPONSOR
Responsible for securing funding and represents the executive-level decisions for the project. Provides the project vision with oversight and guidance on strategic direction. Ultimately responsible for making decisions which can change the project organization, scope, or funding.
PROJECT CHAMPION
Provides advice on project decisions. Establishes project parameters and oversees the development of the project plan. Identifies all project team member roles and ensures the fulfillment of responsibilities. Categorize and resolve project impediments as they arise.
PROJECT MANAGER
Manages customer relationship and communication with the vendor; including and not limited to: project plan and schedule approval, project meetings, monitoring scope, time frame, budget, resource allocation and utilization, risk management, and change management.
Project Stakeholders
PROJECT LEAD
Responsible for contributing to overall project objectives and specific functional area deliverables. Liaison between Project Manager and Subject Matter Expert and End Users. Manages specific project plan activities, coordinates documentation, testing, and training efforts related to the project plan. Escalate any knows issues to Project Manager as needed for the project.
SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS
Understand the “as is” environment and provides functional expertise and knowledge of the existing business practice. Responsible for the successful configuration, processing, and implementation of functional area software modules. Liaison between the user community and project team and mentor to other users of the system’s functional area. Coordinates data collection, reconciles user requirements of the new system and identifies business process improvement and changes.
END USERS
Test system functionality and provide input on improvements, changes, or ideas for use.
Ancillary Staff
TECHNICAL STAFF AND GIS STAFF
Administrate and manage all stages of the project related to technical and GIS needs; including and not limited to: configuration and set up, data importing, integrations, security and administration, and implementation.
