Cartegraph versions after Spring 2015 are integrated with two different cloud services. The cloud services are called from the Web and the Application servers.
The primary service addresses are https://www.arcgis.com and https://login.salesforce.com/. The two sites reference other resources. Specifically, https://www.arcgis.com uses Amazon's content delivery network (CDN) to serve up basemap tiles and other resources.
Because these are cloud services, the IP address of each service changes without warning. This means you cannot use a host file with a static IP address. The Web and Application servers need to use DNS resolution.
