Octopus Deploy Requirements for OMS Installation and Upgrades

Cartegraph has adopted the industry standard for deploying .NET Web applications called Octopus Deploy. Read more about it here: https://octopus.com/why.

What the IT department needs to know and do before the deployment of the OMS sites:

  1. Open outgoing ports #10943 and #443 are required to access octopus.cartegraph.com from your Cartegraph OMS Web server and Cartegraph OMS Application server.

You can test this out from the app and web server by opening a browser and going to this URL: https://octopus.cartegraph.com:10943/. You will get a certificate error, but if you proceed past that, it will tell you if your server can reach our server on that port.

  1. Some initial configurations by Cartegraph development operations are needed, including the installation of a new service called OctopusDeploy Tentacle on your Cartegraph OMS Web server and Cartegraph OMS Application server. This will be done at the time of deployment of your OMS sites.

With Octopus Deploy, Cartegraph OMS updates are not done automatically without your permission

For future upgrades:

  1. Verify outgoing ports #10943 and #443 are open as they are required to access octopus.cartegraph.com from your Cartegraph OMS Web server and Cartegraph OMS Application server.
  2. Verify OctopusDeploy Tentacle service is running on your Cartegraph OMS Web server and Cartegraph OMS Application server.
  3. If you are on the Spring 2019 (v20) version or earlier, schedule your upgrade with Cartegraph by contacting our support team. If you are on the Fall 2019 (v21) version or newer, use the upgrade portal to upgrade your site(s).  If you need an account for the upgrade portal, please contact our support team.
