Configure Open311

You must have administrator rights to access this feature.

You must have the Dev Tools features to complete this task.

Typically all the default settings are used.

System Settings

  1. Click Administrator Icon>System Settings.
  2. Hover on Open311IssueFilter and click View.
  3. Click Edit and set the value to true if you want to hide issues marked as External. For example, [External]=true.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Hover on Open311RequestFilter and click View.
  6. Click Edit and set the value to false to hide issues marked as External. For example, [Issue\External]=true.

Cartegraph recommends the filter used to filter Requests is the same field used to filter Issues. This prevents the possibility of a citizen submitting a valid request, but not being able to see it again because it is filtered out of their lists.

  1. Click Save.
  2. Hover on Open311Key and click View.
  3. Click Edit and enter a value. For example, AJR2496.

The key is user-specified and can be anything. This is the key given to or generated by a customer application that wants to connect to your Open311 server.

  1. Click Save.
  2. Hover over Open311KeyService and click View.
  3. Click Edit and enter the correct web address and phone number. For example, http://api.mycity.gov/api_key/request.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Hover over Open311Contact and click View.
  6. Click Edit and enter the location where an Open311 customer application developer goes to request an API key to submit requests to the organization. For example, You can email or call for assistance api@mycity.org + 1 (555) 555-5555.

This is the key you added in steps 8-10.

  1. Hover over Open311DiscoveryChangeset and click View.
  2. Click Edit and set the changeset’s date and time values to the date you change any of the above settings. For example, 2013-02-03 14:18. Update this whenever the Open311KeyService or Open311Contact values are changed.
  3. Click Save.
  4. Hover over Open311EndPointChangeset and click View.
  5. Click Edit and set the changeset’s date and time values to the date you change any of the above settings. For example, 2013-02-03 14:18. Update this whenever the Open311EndPointType value is changed.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Hover over Open311EndPointType and click View.
  8. Click Edit and set the changeset’s date and time values to the date you change any of the above settings. For example, production.
  9. Click Save

Share the key with a customer application ready to connect to your Open311 server.

Set Codes

Enter a value for the Code. The code can be determined by the organization and must be unique for each issue.

  1. Click Screen Shot 2018-04-12 at 3.27.44 PM.png>System Settings.
  2. In the left panel, select Library Manager.
  3. Search for and select the Request Issues library.
  4. Hover over the first issue in the list and click View.
  5. Click Edit.
  6. Enter the code and click Save.
  7. Repeat for each Request issue.
