Starting with Fall 2016 the entire installation and update processes for on-premise customers is overhauled and simplified. Going forward, updates to Cartegraph OMS will be faster and more seamless. Cartegraph has adopted the industry standard for deploying .NET Web applications called: Octopus Deploy. Read more about it here: https://octopus.com/why.
What the IT Department needs to know and do before the next upgrade:
- Open outgoing ports #10943 and #443 are required to octopus.cartegraph.com from your Cartegraph OMS Web server and Cartegraph OMS Application server.
NOTE: You can test this out from the app and web server by opening a browser and going to this URL: https://octopus.cartegraph.com:10943/. You will get a certificate error, but if you proceed past that, it will tell you if your server can reach our server on that port.
- Some initial configurations by Cartegraph support are needed, including the installation of a new service called OctopusDeploy Tentacle on your Cartegraph OMS Web server and Cartegraph OMS Application server.
NOTE: With Octopus Deploy Cartegraph OMS updates are not done automatically without your permission.
After your first update to Fall 2016, subsequent updates to Cartegraph OMS will be a lot smoother!
